On July 29-30, Local Council and the Town Hall Moieciu organized the 14th edition of the Summer Fair, which attracted thousands of Romanian and foreign tourists, guests and personalities of mark of the Romanian political life. The event was attended by dozens of popular creators and handicraftsmen, merchants, folkloric bands and singers. Welcoming the participants in his opening speech, Nicolae Clinciu, the mayor of Moieciu, alluded to the support of the County Council, the County Centre for Conserving and Promoting the Traditional Culture Brasov and the partnership of the Payments Agency and Rural Development for Hunting and Fishing Brasov, the Agrarian Consulting Centre and Antrec Brasov in realizing this edition. ?Every year there have been an increasing number of merchants and artisans from various counties?.
Music and Merrymaking
Tourist enjoyed a splendid weather and a remarkable artistic program, performed by various folkloric bands such as ?Doinitorii Rancului?, ?Moiecelul?, ?Flori de Mar?, ?Tara Barsei?. The appetizing food, the cold bear and the artefacts of the artisans made the spectators? day.
Animals Exhibition
The event also included a breeders? exhibition, where the most beautiful animals were put on display. The best breeders were given prizes and diplomas: Ion Mogan and Mihai Surdu won the first and second prize for brown breed cows. The prizes were offered by parliamentarians of Brasov.
The Artisans? Fair
The artisans? fair was the main attraction of the event. Most of the tourist went home with nice gifts representing the Romanian popular art from the majority of the country?s areas. The quality of the works, the variety and the original procedures of creation were a delight for the beauty lovers, amazed by the huge number of the objects: farming utensils (Gheorghe Fesa), whips (Fejer Carol), manual and moulding bells (Florin Maior), semiprecious stones (Mircea Stan), traditional Romanian hats (Dan Dadarlat, the only producer), pottery of Corund (Ioszef Molnos), carpets and rugs from Oltenia (Antoneta Nadu), masks and dolls (Elena Stefanschi).
In spite of the event?s success, tourists must know that Moieciu is more than the summer fair, all year long: outdoor hikes, equitation, ski and delicious gastronomy.
