Comana de Jos commune is part of Tara Fagarasului and is located on Transylvania?s Plateau, on the left bank of river Olt. The settlement lays at the foot of Pleasa hummock, a hill of Persani Mountains. The local people still treasure the traditions; the inhabitants who left the village once turn home to celebrate ?The Sons of Comana de Jos? feast. At the 4th edition, the town hall Comana and The Communitarian Centre of Fagaras Municipality organized o special feast to revive the ancient traditions of the inhabitants. The stage set up in front of the Communitarian Centre Comana hosted the popular parade and moving performances of the various popular singers and dancers? bands.
Unmingled Tradition
The name Comana issues from the Latin Coma-Comes, which means crest, which gave the name to Comana Crest of Persani Mountains. The most ancient archaeological testimony of Comana village dates back to 2000 B.C. The village?s hearth moved several times till settle on the nowadays location. The Romanians constitute the population with dacian-roman origin; the migration occasioned the settle down of the gipsy population. The inhabitants managed to conserve unmingled across the centuries the language, the traditions and the popular clothes.

The mayor of Comana commune, Alexandru Fekete, organized on August 26-27 the fourth meeting of the inhabitants of Comana de Jos village, including those who have left their natal places long ago. ?In order to have a well-organized event we constituted an organizing committee with specific tasks. We promoted the event on the media so that we could have a big audience to the traditional folkloric show, attended by the Government representatives and county personalities of mark. The event is meant to allow the various generations of the village to gather and ensure the transmission of the local inheritance?.

Alexandru Comsa is one of the village?s offspring went to live in town; he turned to attend the event, as he does every year. ?The village?s strains regularly return at the source, because here the water is clearer. I will always remember my childhood, when I used to work at the archaeological site located between Comana and Cuciulata. I recognize my origins in this site dating back before the dacian times. It was the most important experience of me being a child?.
