The Durable Development Agency of Brasov county, in collaboration with the Centre of Traditional Culture?s Conservation and the Cultural Agency ?Connexions?, organized at the Cellar-Restaurant ?The Carpathian Stag?, a culinary festival of the county?s traditional products. The event is part of the ?Brasov Traditions? Program, which also included handicraft and sculpture exhibits, painted eggs, tissues and a folkloric show.
The restaurant?s tables were covered with gastronomic products from the entire county?s kitchens. The exhibit also included various kind of plum brandy; the strongest was the brandy made in Dragus village, which recipe has been transmitted across generations.
The Magyar and German culinary traditions were also represented at the festival. German ethnics living in various localities of the county put on table the famous prune soup, served in traditional German plates.
Is was a wonderful occasion to launch the Project ?Authentic Brasov?s Product?, meant ?to promote the traditional values?, as Mihai Pascu stated, the Agency?s president and director of the Integration and Coordination Department within Brasov County Council. ?We intend to promote the rural development. Within this three years project, located at Sercaia, every locality will promote its traditional products and will have its own event every weekend?.
The estimated 25 million euro project also includes special farming courses, pattern upon European classes, and the establishment of a micro-farm, applying modern agrarian techniques. All the products selected to be sold will bear the inscription ?Authentic Brasov?s Product?, a County Council registered mark.
