The National Day of Romania in Codlea

In the town of Codlea, county of Brasov, the first town connecting Brasov to the former cultural capital Sibiu, the cultural events dedicated to winter holidays are prepared in detail by the Town Hall and by the Municipal House of Culture. For a month, starting with December 1st, The National Day of Romania, and till the New Year, a series of cultural events are organized. "Magura Codlea" Ensemble, children from kindergartens and elementary schools, the choir of the House of Culture and groups of carol singers participate in this event.
Celebration of the National Day
On December 1st, The National Day of Romania, the Town Hall Codlea pays special attention to this event and grants funds for the organization of some cultural events.
"The National Day of Romania is celebrated pompously in Codlea. It starts by taking wreaths of flowers to the monument of heroes to pay tribute to our heroes. A festive show is organized after the so-called "Let's do the round dance" in which both guests and citizens of the town participate. The lights are lit in the Promenade from the "Historical Centre" on the occasion of winter holidays. By such events we are trying to rediscover the joy of being a Romanian," said Mr. Petrică Buhnici, the Manager of the Municipal House of Culture Codlea.
Christmas Carol Concert
Another event organized on the occasion of Christmas celebration - the birth of Lord Jesus Christ, is the Christmas Carol Concert at its 4th edition. Hundreds of soloists of the choirs within the country are invited to participate in this event, and no con-living ethnic groups are missing: the Hungarian Ecumenical Choir, the Choir of the German Church - Zeidner Kirchenchor, the Choir of the Theoretical High-School, the Choir of Elementary School no. 2, the Penitentiary Choir, C.T. Simion Mehedinti Choir, the Choir of the Orthodox Church "Inaltarea Domnului", the Choir of the House of Culture, the Choir of "Betel" Church ? Christians after the Gospel, the Choir of Pentecostal Church "Emanuel" or the Choir of Pentecostal Church "Sf. Treime".
Singing Christmas carols to sponsors
Every year, on the occasion of Christmas and New Year celebration "Magura Codlea" Ensemble go and sing Christmas carols to the institutions and the personalities of the town, including the Mayor. They do not forget the sponsors contributing to the support of the cultural activity for the Municipal House of Culture Codlea.
"Magura Codlea" Ensemble also participates in other events organized on the occasion of the National Day of Romania in the town and county of Brasov, its performance being extremely appreciated from the chorographical point of view and for making the most of the folk costumes.
