Chamber recital "Gaudeamus 25"

This year Gaudeamus Quartet celebrates 25 years of activity. To celebrate the event the organizers came with a program including six exceptional concerts, following a schedule until November this year. Lucia Neagoe, 1st violin, Raluca Irimia, 2nd violon, Leona Varvarichi, viola and Sebastian Vartosu, violoncello are part of the recital. Honour guests are prestigious soloists in the country and abroad, from the Philharmonic Orchestra in Vienna and the Opera from Berlin. The event was organized with the support of the County Council Brasov and Foundation UMANA.
Gaudeamus Quartet
The Chords Quartet "Gaudeamus" was organized in 1987 under the guidance of maestro Dan Prelipcean, a member of the famous quartet "Voces". The quartet appeared for the first time in Brasov, at the Chamber Music Festival, in the Interpretation Contest for student quartets (19th edition, 1988), when it was awarded the 1st prize. The repertoire of the quartet is impressive, including more than 150 pieces from the work of Enescu, Jora, Negrea, Bentoiu, Spatarelu, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Brahms, Grieg, Smetana, Ravel, Debussy, Bartok, Sostakovici. The Quartet toured in the big cities of Romania, but also in Russia, the Republic of Moldavia, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, U.K., Russia, Spain, Turkey, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia and Poland.
Virtuosity courses
The artists of the Quartet improved their skills at virtuosity courses taken in the U.K. with Hugh Maguire (first violinist of "Allegri" Quartet) and with "Alban Berg" Quartet, with Walter Levin (the first violinist of "La Salle" Quartet) in Salzburg, with "Amadeus" Quartet and with Milan Skampa (a member of "Smetana" Quartet) in London. "Gaudeamus" was invited as a "residence quartet" to have concerts at the Jubilee Hali from Aldenburg, in the U.K. in the period 1997-1998.

The list of prizes: 1st prize in all chamber music contests in the country, the Special Prize of the Jury in the International Chords Contest "Mozait" - Salzburg, Austria, January 1995, 2nd prize in the Chamber Music International Contest "V. Bellini" - Caltanisseta, Sicily, Italy, December 1995, the Big Prize "Rovere d'Oro" in the Chamber Music International Contest - San Bartolomeo al Mare, Italy, June 2000.
