The aviation festival Ghimbav

The aviation festival from Ghimbav, carried out in July 8th-10th 2011 impressed the audience through plane stunts, parachutists groups and the artistic program. The climax was when six parachutists bound in a pyramid shape unfurled Romania's flag which measured 100 square meters. This was rewarded with the applauses of the tourists who came especially to enjoy the air demonstration.

„The Aviation Festival was organized by the Town Hall of Ghimbav through a project selected through the Regional Operational Program, carried out by the Ministry of Development and Tourism aiming at increasing Romania's attractiveness as a touristic destination. We think that the project reached its purpose and attracted tourists who are willing to have a rest. The program was varied and met a wide range of tourist's preferences. They were thus granted the possibility to enjoy aviation acrobatics, enjoy the folklore, leave with a souvenir from the stands of the artisans and taste the Romanian gastronomic products.” declared Toma Dorel, the Mayor of Ghimbav.
Days of Ghimbav
The air show overflew Ghimbav. This moment was dedicated to the days of the town. The event brought vocalists, artistic bands, folk groups and last, but not least, the brass band which performed songs from the Romanian and Saxon repertoire on the stage from the field in the close neighbourhood of Saints Petru and Pavel's Church, which is called the "Golden Church" by the inhabitants due to the golden leaf dome.
The bands the people love the most nowadays did not miss the event: Hi-Q, Compact, Dj Project, Pasarea Colibri, Bere Gratis, Heaven, Desperado.
Spitted bull
Tourists loved the Romanian traditional products, among which the famous "mititei" (minced meat rolls), the beer and a spitted bull. The organizers brought specialists from the Hungarian areas to prepare the ox with the necessary ingredients. The preparations took a long time until the fire managed to make this delicious dish nice and brown. The climax was the moment when the Mayor tried the dainty and declared it „ready to be eaten”.
The aviation festival ended with great fireworks. Tourists enjoyed the good weather and a great show.
