The Strategy for the Development of Brasov County

Romania's quality of full EU member has allowed the access to non-refundable community structural funds, the main instrument for financing local development projects. The way of attracting these funds came from the need to prove that the local projects proposed for financing from non-refundable funds belonged to a local, country, regional and national development strategy. Therefore, having a development strategy for the County of Brasov has become a priority for the county administration.
Taking Sustainable Actions
'At the request of the Brasov County Council, the Sustainable Development Agency of Brasov County (ADDJB), with the support of planning experts from Brandenburg Land, Germany, drafted in 2007 the 'Concept of Sustainable Development of Brasov County'. This document was approved at the Plenum of the County Council. Through this planning document, ADDJB presented to the county administration a trans-sectorial concept which was relevant from the territorial point of view for the future actions of sustainable development intended for the welfare of Brasov County. Therefore, the necessary basis for advancing in the strategic planning at the county level was created: establishment of future development guidelines, draft of a county strategy with clear and measurable goals and an action plan to achieve the expected strategic goals,' said Mr. Aristotel Cancescu, Chairman of Brasov County Council.
Horizons 2013-2020-2030
'This action was continued by ADDJB by applying for non-refundable funds from the European Commission through the Operational Programme - Administrative Capacity Development (PODCA). The project submitted for suggestion under the title 'The Strategy for the Development of Brasov County ' Horizons 2013-2020-2030' obtained the maximum score necessary for financing and ADDJB signed in 2009 the contract for financing this project, attracting funds through the PODCA programme,' said Mr. Mihai Pascu, Chairman of the Agency for Sustainable Development of Brasov County.
Project Purpose
The scope of the project is to draft a strategy for the development of Brasov County, which should be efficient and approved by all the social players. The project identifies action directions, development goals and solutions for the social, economic and environmental needs confronting Brasov community while respecting the principle of sustainable development. By analyses, debates, training courses, the project contributed to the improvement and making the decision-taking institutional framework in the administration from Brasov efficient.
