The first Romanian museum, the City Civilisation Museum from Brasov, is now open for the public. Important persons of the Romanian culture came to its opening, but also people who effectively took part in the rehabilitation works of the building. One of the guests was Mr. Aristotel Cancescu, President of the County Council of Brasov, the one who allotted significant funds to rehabilitate the building and to make the museum functional.
The treasury of the old city of Brasov
?This event is a preview of the City Civilisation Museum from Brasov and an occasion to point out the necessity to start arrangement works at the museum, which completes this major project. The exhibition addresses especially to the people from Brasov, eager to see a part of the old city of Brasov treasury exhibited by museographs from Brasov. The Museum is a museographic challenge for the Romanian museum network by revealing the city universe of an establishment, the way of life and behaviour specific to a certain city from a temporal point of view. In this regard, Brasov is a very good example.? said Mrs. Ligia Fulga, Manager of the Ethnographic Museum of Brasov.
Future projects
?After 10 years, I can now tell to the people from Brasov that we have managed to restore the most important monuments and tourist establishments that Brasov has. Renovation is four times more expensive than building a new construction. That is way, the renovation of the 15 Council Square medieval house cost a lot of money and we still need around 10 billion old lei to renovate the basement. I have one more dream, that is to renovate the historical centre of Brasov city, with all its buildings and their facades. For this we would need a significant amount of money namely hundreds of millions of Euro. These buildings are in a very bad condition because they have been neglected during the communism, when owned by RIAL company. I have seen a lot of historical centres in Europe and I think the most beautiful is Nurnberg which has become a model to me.? said Mr. Aristotel Căncescu.
