Brasov County Council, the County Centre for Conservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture, along with Ormenis town hall and the Cultural Association Apácai Csere Janos, organized on March 28 Festival of the popular dance of the Hungarian community of Tara Barsei.

22 Magyar Bands

The fourth edition of the festival gathered 22 children and adults bands of the county, about 400 people, performing within a manifestation designed as a dialogue between two generations. As mayor of Ormenis, Janos Gergely, said ?every year, the festival attracts more and more Hungarian folk ensembles, trying to learn the ancient Hungarian folk dances, under the guidance of instructors specialized in ethno-folklore.

Old Hungarian Dances

Prof. Adrian Văluşescu, director of the county?s Centre, remarked that ?every year, the quality of Hungarian folk dance festival increases. We have always supported cultural activities of ethnic Hungarians and we have promoted the Hungarian culture in Brasov county, from the crafts and to the Hungarian gastronomy?.
