Late September, in Brasov was inaugurated the National Office of traditional an ecological products, with headquarters in Brasov. The event has been attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Agricultural Directorate of Brasov, county councilors and representatives of associations specialized in organic products. After the official opening, at Rasnov was organized an exhibition of Romanian traditional and organic products, attended by representatives from across the country.
Rich Gastronomy
Lucia Romanescu, the new director of the National Office, disclosed the office manner of work: ?We started the activity using the information about the fairs and exhibitions of traditional item. This is how we discovered that Romania has a very rich tradition. We made friends the first day of work, we attested the culinary field. We intend to monitor the rural area with all hostels and all the accommodations connected to agro-tourism?.
Organic Products Logo
Minister Secretary of State Gheorghe Albu, said that the Office is similar to those of the European Community. Local authorities and councils have supported this initiative; therefore ?the Romanian products will be known anywhere in the world, thus promoting Romania. In 2006, it was decided that each manufacturer can mark its products with the logo Romanian traditional and organic products? the minister stated.
Products? Caravan
The exhibition held in Rasnov, at the foot of the Fortress, is part of the ?Products? Caravan? at country level, meant to show off the potential of Romanian organic products. Such of exhibits have been presented in Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Greece, France and even on other continents, bearing the logo of Romanian traditional and organic products.
County councilor Adrian Maxim organized two international trade fairs in Italy. 86 tons of products worthing 68 million euros have been exported.

Romania currently holds 1800 registered traditional products. The clients have the guarantee of an impeccable quality, additives and preservatives free. Romania makes products ranging from natural plum jam, natural fruit without added sugar or chemical preservatives, different range of cheeses, traditional alcoholic beverages (Tuica, palinca), soft drinks, vegetables and fruit in various forms, all being prepared by Romanian traditional recipes and using technology and modern manufacturing methods
Traditions of Brasov
On Christmas and the New Year's Eve, the Agency for Sustainable Development of Brasov county organizes the project ?Traditions of Brasov?, a culinary festival accompanied by a folkloric show. People from all over the county bring here specific culinary products of the Romanian, Hungarian and Saxon kitchens. The festival is an opportunity to exhibit traditional Romanian products and brands and registered ecological products.
