Romanian-Chinese Cooperation

An official delegation from the Chinese province of Liaoning made a three-day visit to Brasov. The delegation, led by Wang Zhifeng, director of the Office for Foreign Affairs of the Liaoning Government, included directors of government departments of transport, tourism, education and forestry, and representatives of Shenyang Jianzhu University. The guests were received by Aristotel Cancescu, County Council President and counsellors from the international relations and health county committees.The meeting was attended by Silviu Costea, vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Brasov, who facilitated the guests a visit to two companies in the wood processing field - Forex and Losan.
Twinning Agreement
The officials discussed the possibility to materialize the twinning agreement signed in 1993 between the County Council Brasov and Liaoning Government, through the establishment of Confucius Centre project in Brasov. It would be the second such centre opened in Romania. The project is supported by the Embassy of China and the Chinese governmental agency Hanban who has agreed in principle to this effect.
Bilateral Cooperation
President Cancescu promised he will directly support the establishment of ?Confucius? centre, hosted by ?Transilvania? University as result of a bilateral cooperation protocol. The head of the county government would also like a greater involvement of China in the investments field in Romania.
