The town-resort Predeal is famous as an all-seasons resort, but also for its Christian faith. The present town has been established two centuries ago around Predeal Monastery, thanks to the religious fervency of its inhabitants. Across the time, various halidoms have been established in Predeal, which spa and leisure offer combines with the ecumenical tourism one.
Predeal Monastery
In the second half of the 18th century, near the spring of Prahova river, has been established Predeal hermitage, which titular saint is Saint Nicholas. The first cells appeared around 1774. The church was built in Caraiman stone, in byzantine style and is painted in frescoes. In 1993 the monastery is re-established and committed to six nuns? care. Tourists and believers all over the country come by to pray and recollect.
Church and Congregation
The orthodox church Saints Emperors Constantine and Helen is located at the centre of Predeal and it was built in mountain style in 1990. In 2005 it was decorated with internal paintings.
Eight nuns live in the Jesus Congregation of Timisul de Sus, hosted by a roman-catholic monastery consecrated to Sainte Theresa of Jesus Child. The orthodox Christians in the area pray at Saint Pantelimon Church, a real wood jewellery.
Another orthodox church which titular saint is Saint Nicholas is located in Timisul de Jos, a place visited mostly by the tourists before starting a hike in the surroundings.
Roman-Catholic Chapel
The Roman-Catholic Chapel in Timisul de Jos is located at the foot of Postavarul Mountain. It has been established almost 300 years ago. In 1781 it awoke the interest of the Holy See in Rome. By the letter released at 6th of July 1781, Pope Pius the VIth confer the chapel the right to organize pilgrimages, with the recommendation that the 1st August become the adoration day.
