On the occasion of May 9, The Europe's Day, the County Council Brasov and the county's Agency for Durable Development inaugurated the Europe Direct Centre Brasov. The event was attended by Panayotis Carvounis, deputy general manager of the General Direction for Communication of the European Commission and was followed by a round table dedicated to the importance of the European integration communication at local and regional level.
The CC president, Aristotel Cancescu, remarked that the county ,,shows interest for the EU' programs and policies, the necessity to approach the EU as soon as possible and to attract structural funds. We've even sent a representative to Brussels, in order to seas every single opportunity?.

Mihai Pascu, deputy general manager of the European Coordination Integration Department, considers the Centre as ,,an opportunity to clarify aspects of the European legislation, financing tools, study cycles in the states members. The intervention of the County Council is absolutely necessary to ensure the dissemination of the European information at the county's level?.
Citizens must be informed
Panayotis Carvounis expressed his satisfaction for the creation of the partnership that leaded to the present project: ,,The EU assigns one million euros to develop 26 European information centers, in order to allow the citizens the access of information. A new contest will be organized this summer, which means a possibility to extend the project for other four years. We hope Brasov will participate and will win again. Citizens must be informed, because so many aspects of their lives are influenced by the EU's opportunities?.
