The Lasting Development Agency of Brasov county completed one year of activity. According to Mihai Pascu, the agency president and also director of the coordination-integration Department within the county council, "the agency is an intercommunitarian association constituted in 2006 by the local public administrations. The agency is the main partner of the county's authorities, in the local lasting development field, favoring the urban and rural development, the construction and the promotion of a lasting future for the county".
Portfolio of over 300 projects
The dynamic team of the agency has been involved since the beginning in planning the development's strategy but also in conceiving and managing the development's projects. Its main priority has always been the realistic appraisal of the development possibilities of both localities and county. The team constituted a portfolio of over 300 projects for the 58 localities of the county to be realized in the following years. The team conceived ever since projects in various fields such as local development, infrastructure, environment, regenerable energy, IT, culture, society, European information.
Reach Past and promising Future
The Agency organized in Bruxelles the conference "Models of communitarian development in the new states of the European Union", along with the county council Brasov, the Regions' Committee and the National Union of the county councils of Romania. It also established the needs and opportunities of the various county's communities and developed the projects' portfolio for Brasov county. In collaboration with German experts, the agency created "The lasting development concept" - an extremely necessary document to establish future projects and the insertion within the regional and national strategies. It was selected to manage the national pilot project for the development of Cata-Drauseni locality as Implementation Unit. It drafted the financing requests from PHARE sources in fields such as public administration, environment, social and economic cohesion. The agency will develop in the future new concepts and projects for local branding, urban development, infrastructure, industry, logistic, agrarian marketing and touring promotion.
