On August 8th -19th, the inhabitants of Zarnesti celebrated ?Zarnesti?s Days?, that ended the XXIX- edition of the "Floare de Colt" folkloric festival. The feast was organized by the local public administration and the Brasov?s Regional Center of Promoting and Preserving Traditional Culture. There has been a show offered by local musicians, but also by Heaven, Nicola and Cristina Rus. On the stage also performed the well-known singers of Romanian folkloric music, Veta Biris and Aurel Tamas.
The Artisans? Fair
Along with the exceptional artistic programme, the tourists were also able to attend the artisans fair and buy Romanian traditional products within the two days of the feast.
The mayor of Zarnesti, Gheorghe Lupu, said: ?we are happy for being able to organize this feast and continue a tradition that begun many years ago. We tried to satisfy and attract as many tourists as possible?
Popular Clothes Parade
?Zarnesti?s Days? is not a singular event in Brasov county. Many other villages also have their feasts. That is why the mayor of Zarnesti says that every one of them tries to promote its identity, its singularity beginning with the gastronomy, popular clothes, the songs and the dances, and last, but not the least, its history. ?It is very important for us to make this feast a true parade of the popular clothes. Tourists will have the possibility to discover more about our traditions?, mayor Lupu stated.
Tourist?s Attractions
Beside the feast, tourists are thrilled with the beautiful landscapes of this area, located at the foot of Piatra Craiului and Bucegi Mountains. The chalets, such as Curmatura, situated at 1400 m altitude, with excellent view over the mountains, Plaiul Foii, located at 850 m or Gura Râului, recently restored, are ready to receive the tourists any time of the year.
