Sercaia commune enjoys an ideal location, mid-way between Fagaras Mountains and the Transylvanian part of the river Olt?s upstream, on the banks of Sercaia river. It includes three villages: Sercaia, Vad and Halmeag. The area is famous thanks to its historical past, but also to the Narcissi Glad, a monument of nature of Vad village. The beauty of the surroundings always attracted visitors, since the times when, hundreds of years ago, the famous Via Regis (The Royal Way) used to cross Vad, coming from Sibiu through Fagaras and going towards Bran and Walachia.
400 ha of delicate Beauty
Less than 80 km form Brasov, in the village Vad spreads the natural reserve ?The Vad?s Glade?, better known as ?The Narcissi Glade?, the splendid location for the Narcissi Feast, the festival of ethnology and folklore organized every year on May 21. The magnificent spot is the only natural reserve of its kind in Europe, spreading on a 400 ha area. Narcissi all over the place, growing freely in all their splendour, Transylvanian traditions and tasty local gastronomy can be admired at Narcissi Feast.
This year?s edition of the Festival gathered the pupils of the elementary school of Sercaia ? Vad, Halmeag Brass band, the folkloric groups ?Fluierasul? of Brasov and ?Mocanasul? of Sacele, various other bands and vocal performers, within an exceptional artistic program dedicated to the beautiful and gracious flowers that grow spontaneously in Vad Glade.
