At the end of March, social-democrat senator Otilian Neagoe organized in Tusnad Bai resort of Harghita county a meeting dedicated to the topic ?The Balneary Tourism - realities and aspirations?. The conference was attended by Daniel Vasilescu, president of the Employers Federation of the Romanian Tourism, Nicu Radulescu, president of the Employers Organization of the Balneary Tourism, local administration's representatives of Harghita county, hotels and guesthouses' holders, tourism managers and media.
Weak and strong Points
Senator Neagoe emphasized the weak and the strong points of the Romanian balneary tourism: ?The strong points of the tourism in Harghita and Covasna counties are the thermal waters, the mofettes, the environment; all this make of the balneary tourism the most spectacular field within the Romanian tourism, unique in its kind. The weak points are the infrastructure, the low operating standards, the lack of a programmed and aggressive promotion, insufficiently valorised at the moment. Therefore, the conference's aim is identify the problems and elaborate a developing strategy of the tourism, as an alternative to the economical development?.
Programs and Strategies
Daniel Vasilescu, president of the Employers Federation of the Romanian Tourism, mentioned that, although the region possesses an exceptional medical treatment patrimony, located in an unpolluted environment, with multiple possibilities of recreation, the potential never operated at its full capacity. ?We need programs and strategies to develop and promote the balneary tourism; we also have to improve the services and the comfort?, Vasilescu stated.
Nicu Radulescu, president of the Employers Organization of the Balneary Tourism, announced that the Government have assigned 325 millions euros for tourism, wherefrom 90 millions are exclusively destined to the balneary tourism.
