The minister of the Education and Research Department, Mihail Hărdău, visited Brasov, following the invitation of mayor George Scripcaru. The prefect of Brasov, Aurelian Danu, and Camen Tănăsescu, general inspector of the County Scholar Inspectorate Brasov accompanied the minister during his meeting with the head-masters of the educational institutions of the county and ,,Transilvania? University representatives.
Scholar Campuses
Minister Hărdău noted Brasov is a model county, with a very high urbanisation level.
,,The Education and Research Department is the first board to elaborate a developing strategy until 2008, as a team-work involving students? syndicates and associations. 1,1 billions euro will be invested in education this year; the pre-higher education within Brasov county will receive in 2006 about 16 millions euro. Until 2008, all the schools in the communal centres will be computerized. This year will also start the project of building and setting up scholar campuses? the minister stated.
The Forestry Highschool
The minister visited the Forestry Highschool, The Sportive Highschool and ,,Transylvania? University, in order to verify the educational conditions and find solutions to retrieve the connected problems. General scholar inspector Carmen Tănăsescu emphasized that the Forestry Highschool is unique in its kind and is attended not only by teenagers from Brasov county but also from Harghita and Covasna ones.
Aranyosi Stefan, president of the Culture Board within the County Council Brasov and one of the teachers of the highschool reminded that Brasov used to be once the only town in Central and Eastern Europe without a forestry highschool, although there was a specialized faculty in town. The highschool functions today in the same building that used to host once the first apprentices school of the Evangelic Church.
The Sportive Highschool
The Sportive Highschool is an institution with a long and remarkable tradition. The gym hall, dating back to 1853, is still conserved, as a testimony of the good preparation the sportsmen used to receive here. Its modern counterpart are the ,,Ion Ţiriac? hall, the fitness area, the well-fitted computer lab and the sportive arena, an educational unit for 17 classes. General inspector Tănăsescu wants to establish here the first scholar campus to integrate the elementary school and part of the gymnasium.
,,Transilvania? University
The Education?s minister also met the chancellor of ,,Transilvania? University Brasov, Ion Visa, members of the Senate and students? representatives and expressed his satisfaction for the quality teaching process in Brasov. The discussions pertained to the postgraduate studies, the didactic infrastructure and the development of appropriate labs. ?The policy we promote is the opening outside the university, both at the students? and the training activity level. As to the research level, , we are receiving solicitations from abroad, with specific postgraduate studies proposals. We wish to promote new specialisations with impact in the future, within the national and European area?, chancellor Visa disclosed. The prefect of Brasov, Aurelian Danu, showed his availability to collaborate with ,,Transilvania? University in order to realize sociological and polling studies.
