‘Flowers in Ţara Bârsei Region’

The Traditional Culture Service organized the 12th edition of the Traditional Music Contest Festival for Young Singers called ‘Flori în Ţara Bârsei’ (Flowers in Ţara Bârsei Region), at the Reduta Cultural Centre in Brasov. This year, 50 young singers from almost every region of the country registered for the auditions, a big part of them being already awarded within other famous festivals, fact that made the competition tougher.
• Celebrities in the jury
The jury included celebrities from the cultural and artistic fields:
Mrs. Oana Gabriela Petrică, Deputy Director of the National Assets Institute – President of the jury, the TV maker and presenter, Mr. Sergiu Vaida, singers Ovidiu Homorodean and Cornelia Radocea, and the Professor Valentin Muntean, PhD., from the Faculty of Music of Transilvania University of Brasov. The awards granted by the organizers were: the big trophy of RON 1200, the 1st prize (RON 800), 2nd prize (RON 700), 3rd prize (RON 600), and 3 mentions of RON 400. The congeniality award and the prize for the authenticity of the traditional costume shall be awarded, worth of RON 300 each.
• Outstanding recital
At the Gala concert of the laureates, Mr. Ovidiu Homorodean performed an outstanding recital, accompanied by Mr. Vlad Sărmaș, a singer of traditional music from Năsăud area (awarded during the last year’s edition), Mr. Cristian Ioan Țăran, singer and TV show maker at TVR Tg. Mureș program and the singers Anca Branea and Cornelia Radocea.
The orchestral accompaniment shall be provided by the ‘Plaiuri Transilvane’ Orchestra, led by Prof. Liviu Ioan Iosif, PhD. Anchor: Mrs. Claudia Mirițescu.
• Promoting talents
‘The Festival has already become a tradition in the culture of Brasov city. The purpose of this manifestation is to discover and promote new talents, pointing out the authentic traditional music and introducing it in the circuit of the Romanian spiritual values’, told us Prof. Adrian Văluşescu, Head of the Traditional Culture Service.
