The Town Hall and the Local Council get involved in important projects so that ecotourism in the area is preserved. An important project is part of the Pilot Program Start Up Environment Ecotourism, aiming at the encouragement of nature preservation. The Object of the Program is the grant from the Environment Fund for projects having as an objective the preservation and development of the areas that are associated with protected areas, by the implementation of the ecotourism destination concept.
"We have an advantage in this project and we have had several meetings at the Centre for Information and Touristic Promotion in the locality, located with the Bison Reservation in Acris village. At the working meeting we have taken all necessary steps to declare Vama Buzaului a Touristic resort of local interest. One of the discussed aspects was the arrangement/reconstruction of touristic trail networks in the area. On the official website of the locality, those who are interested can find the interactive touristic map, with routes for hiking, cycling, information centres and touristic objectives." declared Tiberiu Nicolae Chirilas, the Mayor of locality Vama Buzaului.
By this project, in view of arrangement and reconstruction of the touristic trail networks in the area, the following are aimed at: development of access infrastructure, building mountain refuges where tourists can find a shelter and get information, development of information infrastructure and interpretation of local nature and culture, as well as building facilities for the local ecotourism services. Meanwhile the increase of the human resources capacity is intended for management and administration of the destination at the level of the areas with protected natural areas associated.
