In the County of Brasov, considered the Capital of winter sports, tourists have a wide range of opportunities for practising winter sports in the resorts of Predeal, Poiana Braşov, Rasnov, Moieciu ? Cheile Gradistei, Zarnesti or on ski slopes from the localities situated at the bottom of Fagaras Mountains. On the occasion of the 2013 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival organized in the County of Brasov, the quality of the ski area available in these resorts was improved through modernization investments in winter sports infrastructure, which lead to the international approval of the sports centres of cross-country skiing, alpine skiing and snowboard. New sports facilities were built on the Valley of Rasnoava and the first private ski slope in the world at Cheile Gradistei.

This way, all lovers of winter sports who wish to come to the mountain resorts of the County of Brasov will benefit from the best conditions for practising skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboard. Ice skating and sleigh riding facilities are also available for them.
For tourists, Predeal resort is the perfect combination between skiing and beautiful natural mountain landscapes. Winter here is like in fairytales and one can admire it the best from the peak of Mountain Clabucet that can be reached by ski lift. The snow layer thickness can reach a few meters and may last over 100 days which is ideal for practising winter sports. The town of Predeal is bordered by five mountains: Postavarul, Piatra Mare, Bucegi, Baiului and Fetifoi. It is the only resort considered "the Pearl of the Romanian Tourism". The accommodation and infrastructure here are much appreciated by tourists and specialists.
The resort of Poiana Brasov is situated at the bottom of Postavarul Mountains, at 12 km distance from the City of Brasov. It has the most modern mountain tourist facilities in the country: pool hotels, show and conference rooms, horse riding centre, sports facilities, tourist sheepfold, gondola lift and two cable car lines and several ski lift lines. It is considered the most famous winter sports resort in Romania and an important international tourist centre. There are overall 12 ski slopes with different levels of difficulty, sports fields, an Olympic ice skating rink and many entertaining and recreational possibilities.
Piatra Craiului Mountains, unique in the Romanian Carpathian Mountains, offer to the tourists the possibility to seek shelter at the chalets in Plaiul Foii, Curmatura, Gura Raului or at the mountain huts in Varful Ascutit and Grind. In Bran Pass there are several facilities to practice winter sports in Bran, Moieciu, Simon, Pestera, Magura or Sirnea, as well as on the private ski slope at Cheile Gradistei.
